My husband suffered a disabling stroke in April of 2001. Due to my age and ability, it became necessary to hire a caregiver to help me handle the daily duties necessary to caring for my husband. I feel very fortunate to have met and hired Janet Serafica.
Janet has always proven herself to be a trustworthy, dependable hard worker who goes beyond expectation in seeing that she gives my husband the best care possible. Not only is she meticulous about his daily care, but she takes great interest in challenging him in areas such as conversation, walking, reading, self-care, etc. She is self-motivated and has taken him on outings (scheduling the medical bus and traveling along with it) just to make sure he has every opportunity for stimulation and adventure. She has also taken it upon herself to make meals for us and helps keep our home orderly, (which goes a long way in easing my stress).
Janet is invaluable to us and exhibits the type of enthusiasm and dependability that makes her an excellent choice for a home care provider.

Janet Serafica has been my 88-year-old mother’s caregiver for the last two years. Her help has been a blessing.
Janet is punctual, courteous, kind, efficient, and thoughtful. She has a remarkable way of making my mother feel good. The two chit-chat, and Janet can be heard laughing. She just enjoys her job, and that is clearly a wonderful asset. When she is here, I can relax and even leave knowing my mother will be given a thorough shower, massage, and attention to personal care beyond the call of duty- Janet has been known to put fresh flowers in my mother’s hairpin.
Janet also prepares a standard breakfast, oatmeal with bananas, tea with toast and jam. She remembers all the details, which are important to me as well.
Once a week she changes the bed linens and leaves all the soiled clothes neatly piled, and the kitchen is always left tidy.
Most importantly, Janet lifts our spirits. If she can be cloned, please let me know!

In early August of this year, we lost my dad, Tom Jennings, after a long illness. Janet headed a team of nighttime caregivers, having organized a group of wonderful support for my dad and our whole family at a very sad and stressful time for us.
Janet quickly established a rapport with Dad, sharing his love of jokes, family stories, and intelligent conversation. Her presence in my parent’s house was a bright light in all of our days. She is not only a skilled and compassionate caregiver but was sensitive to my parent’s wishes and desires, supporting them but in no way attempting to change or influence them.
Janet kept careful records, organizing a notebook with all relevant phone numbers…doctors, nurses, pharmacies, emergency numbers, prescription doses and times, and a calendar of appointments.
Janet was always there for us, willing to adjust her schedule to help us handle things, and pick up food, equipment, or prescriptions in town to make things easier for us. My whole family appreciates Janet so much for her friendship, support, and professional caregiving that she provided for us and Dad.

After a diagnosis of lung cancer, my 90-year-old father came home from the hospital knowing he had only a few weeks left to live. Home health nurses provided monitoring and help with medical needs, but overnight assistance was needed. Janet was the first to provide this service and quickly organized a team of three nursing assistants to ensure that we would have consistent help.
My father, though physically frail, was mentally clear and capable. Janet established a warm rapport with him immediately, demonstrating her interest and concern for him as a person as well as for his physical care. She was sensitive to his wishes and respected his desire to be as independent as possible. Janet worked with us as a family and made us all as comfortable as possible during a very difficult period of time. I highly recommend her to other families who may need health care services.
